Insurance adjuster
An insurance adjuster is the insurer's employee who investigates a claim, evaluates it, and negotiates settlement on the insurer's behalf.
They are not neutral and they do not work for you, however reasonable they sound. Their role is to resolve the claim for as little as possible.
Once you have an attorney, the adjuster should communicate through the firm. Do not give a recorded statement without your attorney's approval.

- Settlement — A settlement is an agreement resolving a claim for an agreed sum, in exchange for which the claimant signs a release permanently giving up the right to pursue it further.
- Bad faith — Bad faith is an insurer's unreasonable handling of a claim — denying without basis, delaying without cause, or failing to settle within policy limits when it should — which can expose the insurer to liability beyond those limits.
