Privacy policy
The short version: we collect what we need to review your application and fund your case, we share it with your attorney and the companies that help us operate, and we do not sell it.
This policy explains how Get Lit Money, LLC (“Get Lit Money,” “we,” “us”) handles personal information when you visit this website, apply for an advance, or call us. It covers this website and our funding services. It replaces the policy dated April 4, 2024.
What we collect
What you give us when you apply online. The state your case is in, the kind of case, whether you have an attorney, and your phone number. If you choose to continue, also your name, your attorney’s firm and contact details, the amount you need, where you are in medical treatment, and whatever you tell us about what happened. The last three are optional.
What you write about your injury or treatment may include health information. Please do not put Social Security numbers, bank account numbers or driver’s license numbers into the online form — it does not ask for them and we do not want them sent that way.
What you give us by phone, email or text. Your name and contact details, and whatever you tell us about your case.
What we receive while reviewing and funding an application. With your authorization, your attorney’s office sends us information about your case — for example the accident report, insurance information, and a summary of your injuries and treatment. If we approve an advance, we collect what we need to prepare the agreement, confirm who you are, and send your funds. That information is collected directly by our staff, not through this website.
What the website collects automatically. Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which include IP address, browser and device type, and the pages requested. We use privacy-friendly analytics that count visits and measure page speed in aggregate. The website does not set advertising or tracking cookies, does not use advertising pixels, and does not build a profile of you across other sites.
What we use it for
- To contact you about your application and answer your questions.
- To request your case file from your attorney, review it, and decide whether we can offer an advance.
- To prepare a funding agreement, send funds, and manage repayment from your settlement.
- To keep the website working, secure, and useful.
- To meet our legal obligations, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements.
We do not use your information for advertising aimed at you on other sites, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means alone — a person reviews every file.
Calls and texts
Calls to our number are answered by an automated assistant, which takes your details so that a member of our team can call you back. Calls with the assistant are recorded and transcribed so that we have an accurate record of what you told us, and the assistant tells you so at the start of the call. Calls with a member of our team are not recorded.
When you give us your phone number, you are asking us to contact you about your application, and we may do that by call or text message at that number. Message and data rates may apply. You can tell us to stop texting at any time by replying STOP, or to stop calling by telling us on any call; either may mean we cannot continue with your application. We do not sell or share phone numbers or text-messaging consent with anyone for their marketing.
Who we share it with
- Your attorney and their office. Funding cannot happen without them. We tell the firm you have applied, request your file, and work with them on the agreement and on repayment at settlement.
- Companies that help us operate — website hosting, email, phone, call-answering and messaging, document signing, payments, and our funding software. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
- Professional advisers and authorities — our lawyers and accountants, and courts, regulators or law enforcement where the law requires it or to protect our rights.
- A successor, if the business or its advances are sold, merged or financed, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
If you apply and we do not fund your case, we keep your application for as long as we reasonably need it to answer follow-up questions and meet our record-keeping obligations, and then delete it. If we fund your case, we keep your file for the life of the advance and afterward for as long as the law and our tax, accounting and legal obligations require.
How we protect it
Online applications are sent to us over an encrypted connection and delivered to our business email system; the website itself does not keep a database of applications. Access to applicant files is limited to the people who need them. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that yours will never be compromised — if a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, state law may give you additional rights, including the right to appeal a decision we make about your request. We will not treat you differently for making one. We may need to confirm who you are before acting, and we may have to keep some information where the law or an open advance requires it.
To make a request, email office@getlitmoney.com or call 813-798-5528. We respond within 45 days.
Because this website does not use tracking cookies or share browsing data with advertisers, there is nothing for a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off; every visitor is already treated that way.
Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through this website. A claim on behalf of a minor is handled with the minor’s parent or guardian and their attorney. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a change materially affects information we already hold about you, we will tell you directly before it takes effect.
