Legal
Tolling
Tolling is the legal pausing of a statute of limitations, which stops the filing deadline from running during a defined period such as a claimant's minority, incapacity or a defendant's absence from the state.
Where a claim belongs to a minor, the limitation period is commonly tolled until they reach eighteen.
Tolling rules are highly state-specific and are not something to rely on without your attorney's confirmation.
