Can I qualify if I'm unemployed?
Yes. Employment is not a requirement for a Get Lit Money advance. Being out of work because of your injury is the most common reason people apply, and it has never been a reason we decline.
We do not ask for pay stubs, employment verification or proof of income. The advance is repaid from your settlement, not from your wages, so your ability to earn is not part of the decision.
The same is true if your only income is disability, unemployment, Social Security or workers' compensation benefits.
If you are receiving needs-tested benefits such as Medicaid or SSI, talk to your attorney before taking an advance — receiving a lump sum can affect eligibility for those programs, and that is worth planning around.
