Do I need a lawyer to get a lawsuit advance?
Yes. You must be represented by an attorney on a contingency fee basis to receive an advance from Get Lit Money, and this is true of every legitimate funder in the category.
There are two reasons. Your attorney is the one who confirms the facts of the case and pays the lien from the settlement, and a represented claim is worth substantially more than an unrepresented one — which protects you as much as it protects us.
If you do not yet have an attorney, get one before you look for funding. Personal injury attorneys work on contingency, which means no fee unless you recover, and consultations are free.
We do not accept referral fees from attorneys and we do not pay them. In several states that is prohibited by statute — and everywhere else it is a conflict that would not be in your interest.
