What if I lose my case?
You owe nothing. Every Get Lit Money advance is non-recourse, which means it is repaid only from a recovery — if your case does not produce one, the advance, the charges and the fees are all canceled and you keep the money. The one exception is fraud or a breach of the agreement on your side.
We do not send the balance to collections, we do not report it to a credit bureau, and we do not pursue you personally for it. There is nothing to pursue: the agreement is against the case, not against you.
The exception is in the agreement and it is narrow in practice: if the case produces nothing, or we are not repaid from it, because of fraud, false information or a breach of the agreement — such as abandoning the case — you are personally responsible. Losing a case you pursued honestly is not one of those things.
The same applies if you recover less than expected. If the settlement is not enough to cover our lien in full, we take what is there.
This is the whole reason the cost is what it is. We are pricing for the files that never repay.
