What does my attorney have to do?
Your attorney confirms the basic facts of the case and provides the file we ask for. They do not sign anything, they are not guaranteeing repayment, and they are not taking on any liability.
The agreement you sign includes a written instruction to your attorney to repay us from the settlement proceeds before disbursing your share. We send the firm a copy so they know the lien is there. It does not make the firm responsible if the case loses.
Most personal injury firms handle these routinely and have a paralegal who processes them. For an experienced office it is a short task.
We contact the firm directly. You do not have to relay documents or explain the process to them.
